Fellow Track Rats, Welcome to NER’s second event of the season co-sponsored by Rennjsport and NCR. We on the track committees are excited about our July DE at Calabogie and look forward to seeing you at the track. For those crossing the border REMEMBER YOUR PASSPORTS and "Canada NON-RESIDENT Motor Vehicle Liabililty Insurance Card". Immediately following the day on track Thursday everyone is invited to a beer, wine, soda and munchies social in the paddock. In case of rain we'll gather on the 3rd floor of the main building. All the information you'll need may easily be found on our web site www.porschenet.com. As this 'Track Rats" is multi-media, if you are reading this on-line, there are direct links to pages listed below. There will not be copies of any of these materials (nor the schedule and instructor and work assignments attached to this email) at the event, so please print your own and bring them with you. Check back shortly before you leave for the track as there are often last minute changes to schedules, run groups,student/instructor assignments & worker assignments. The following link should help to get you started. It will get you to our DE home page. If you then click on the links down the left hand side they will lead you to the information you will need. NER's DE Information Pay particular attention to the following: - Requirements
- Technical Inspection
- On the Track (all sections)
- Event Information 2010 (the Calabogie section) has full details specific to Calabogie and this event: including schedule, run groups, instructor/student assignments & worker assignments.
- Check back shortly before you leave for the track as there are often last minute changes.
- All drivers should particularly note details concerning noise at the track in the “Event Information” pages. Requirements are strict and rules will be enforced.
The following are a few other details not specifically spelled out in any of the information provided above: Gate: The gates will open at 7:00 AM each day of the event, no earlier. Please park in such a manner that the Track Committees and Tech workers can get by and prepare for your arrival. Anyone wanting to drop off vehicles on the day before the event I have received confirmation from the track that we will be able to drop off our rigs AFTER Noon, until 7:00 PM on Wednesday. Please stay out of the way of the people who are already using the track. Registration: Will be open as soon as Joyce Brinton can get herself set up on Thursday morning – expect about 7.15AM. We will probably set up at one of the tables under the tent in the snack bar area. Please make sure that you and your guests sign both the track waiver and the PCA waiver. The track waiver will be signed at the gate as you enter. The PCA waiver will be signed at registration. Everybody attending the event (including your guests and family) will be required to wear a wristband to indicate that they have signed the waivers. These will be distributed at registration. PLEASE MAKE SURE THAT EVERYBODY ASSOCIATED WITH YOU SIGNS THE PCA WAIVER AS WELL AS THE TRACK WAIVER. Registration and waiver signing is necessary the first day only. Registration and Tech on Wednesday afternoon: It is also possible that we will have registration and/or tech line open on Wednesday afternoon after 3 PM depending on the availability of personnel. If they are open we encourage you to take advantage of either or both so that we can have an easier Thursday morning. Even if you go through tech on Wednesday, you will still need to go through the track's noise check on Thursday morning. Tech: YOUR CAR MUST BE TECHED EVERY MORNING, YOU WILL NOT BE ALLOWED ON THE TRACK WITHOUT GOING THROUGH THE TECH LINE! YOU ALSO MUST PASS THE TRACK'S NOISE CHECK BEFORE BEING ALLOWED ON THE TRACK! As always, every car needs to be pre-teched as explained in the “Technical Inspection” section mentioned above. Aside from this pre-tech protocol we will also have a mandatory final safety inspection at the track. A tech line will be set up along the fense bordering the front straight of the track. Bring your car and COMPLETED tech form with you to the tech line after emptying all loose stuff and after attaching numbers. Instructors may self-tech (although they do need to have their cars pre-teched and must bring a tech form to registration). All other drivers must come to the tech line. ALL DRIVERS (INCLUDING INSTRUCTORS) MUST ALSO TAKE THEIR CARS THROUGH THE TRACK'S NOISE CHECK ON THURSDAY MORNING. IF YOU ARE LATE OR ARRIVE ON FRIDAY, YOU WILL HAVE TO MAKE ARRANGEMENTS FOR THIS CHECK WITH THE TRACK OFFICE. NO CAR IS ALLOWED ON TRACK THAT HAS NOT PASSED THE TRACK'S NOISE CHECK! Instructors please note: Although you will be doing your own inspection when you get to the track you are still required to have your vehicle pre-inspected by an appropriate inspector as described in “Technical Inspection” section of the website. At recent events we have had Instructors turning up with Tech forms filled out by themselves or by someone unidentifiable as a PCA tech Inspector. This contravenes PCA requirements and we cannot tolerate it this time. If it is not clear to you what is required please email Bruce or Chris in advance of the event so that we can explain it to you. Those failing to meet this requirement cannot be allowed to run under the terms of our insurance. Worker Assignments: All attendees are expected to help make our event safe and fun. Everybody should be able to find their names associated with a work assignment on the attached schedule. Most will have a short stint working in Pit-out or Staging, some may be listed to work the morning tech line and others will be shown to be working in control or gate. Please take the time to understand when and where you are expected to be. Please pay particular attention to the timing of Worker meetings also shown on the schedule. If you are listed to work the tech line please try to be at the track a little early (particularly on Thursday morning). Details of the actual assignments will be discussed with you when you get to the track. Instructor Assignments for White and Blue drivers: Instructors have been assigned to our Blue and White run group drivers as well as the usual Green and Yellow. The minimum expectation is that these instructors will ride with you at least once each day – it is entirely up to you and your instructor as to whether or not you exceed this minimum expectation. What you get out of this as a student is entirely up to you. We strongly encourage you to leverage this rare opportunity to become a better driver. Just because you are now a “solo” driver doesn’t mean that everything you will learn has to come from yourself. Breakfast and Lunch: Breakfast & lunch may be bought at several restaurants or take-outs in the village outside the track. The snack bar at the track will be open with coffee, muffins & light snacks, don't plan on getting a full lunch there. Bring plenty of liquids as discussed in the section “Prevent Heat Illness” found in the links above. Fuel: - There is NO fuel available trackside.
- 94 Octane is available in town.
Charity Events: As is rapidly becoming a tradition, NER will be raising money for Angel Flight at our events. Angel Flight NE provides free flights for medical care and compassion missions; check out one of their newsletter stories about NER & PCA During the lunch periods on Thursday and Friday Parade Laps will be available for guests. In addition, rides at speed with instructors may be scheduled. Details about these rides appear on our website under Charity Events at Calabogie-July 8-10, 2010. DON'T BE BASHFUL IN APPROACHING JOYCE - IT'S FOR A GOOD CAUSE. So, study your materials, make sure your car is pre-teched, and I'll... See you at the track, Bruce Hauben If you need anything else or have questions feel free to email Bruce or phone 978.952.8517 before 8PM
