2010 LCMT DE Track Rats Notes PDF Print E-mail
Written by Bruce Hauben

Fellow Track Rats,

Welcome to NER’s third event of the season co-sponsored by NCR. We on the track committee are excited about our July Blues Fest DE at Mont-Tremblant and we look forward to seeing you at the track.

For those crossing the border REMEMBER YOUR PASSPORTS and "Canada NON-RESIDENT Motor Vehicle Liabililty Insurance Card".

Immediately following the day on track Monday everyone is invited to a beer, wine, soda and munchies social in the paddock. In case of rain we'll gather in the big white tents as we did last year.

As there is a major Vintage car race directly before our event, we will not have access to the paddock prior to Sunday, July 11 around 5 PM. Rigs may be left in the fields off the spectator access roads before and after the event. When the track goes cold at 5 PM Sunday we may access the paddock across the track.

All the information you'll need may easily be found on our web site www.porschenet.com. As this 'Track Rats"  is multi-media, if you are reading this on-line, there are direct links to pages listed below. There will not be copies of any of these materials (nor the schedule and instructor and work assignments attached to this email) at the event, so please print your own and bring them with you.

Check back shortly before you leave for the track as there are often last minute changes to schedules, run groups,student/instructor assignments & worker assignments.

The following link should help to get you started. It will get you to our DE home page. If you then click on the links down the left hand side they will lead you to the information you will need.

NER's DE Information

Pay particular attention to the following:

  • Requirements
  • Technical Inspection
  • On the Track (all sections)
  • Event Information 2010 (the LCMT section) has full details specific to LCMT and this event: including schedule, run groups, instructor/student assignments & worker assignments.
  • Check back shortly before you leave for the track as there are often last minute changes.
  • All drivers should particularly note details concerning noise at the track in the “Event Information” pages. Requirements are strict and rules will be enforced.

The following are a few other details not specifically spelled out in any of the information provided above:

Gate: The gates will open at 7:00 AM each day of the event, no earlier. Please park on the far right side of the road so that track personnel and the Track Committee can get by you on the left and prepare for your arrival. Because this is a residential area, it is very important that you respect the neighbors and wait quietly in your car with your engines off. Anyone wanting to drop off vehicles on the day before the event please see the appropriate section of the “Event Information” mentioned above.

Registration: Will be open as soon as Mark Keefe can get himself set up in front of the main tower on Monday morning – expect about 7.15AM. Please make sure that you and your guests sign both the track waiver and the PCA waiver. The track waiver will be signed at the gate as you enter. The PCA waiver will be signed at registration. Everybody attending the event (including your guests and family) will be required to wear a wristband to indicate that they have signed the waivers. These will be distributed at registration. Please arrive as early as possible, we have a huge turnout and limited time to get a lot accomplished - no one wants to lose track time.

Tech: As always, every car needs to be pre-teched as explained in the “Technical Inspection” section mentioned above. Aside from this pre-tech protocol we will also have a mandatory final safety inspection at the track. A tech line will be set up somewhere near registration. Bring your car and COMPLETED tech form with you to the tech line after emptying all loose stuff and after attaching numbers. Instructors do not need to have to bring their cars to the tech line (although they do need to have them pre-teched and must bring a tech form to registration). All other drivers must come to the tech line. Please arrive as early as possible, we have a huge turnout and limited time to get a lot accomplished - no one wants to lose track time.

Tech:  YOUR CAR MUST BE TECHED EVERY MORNING, YOU WILL NOT BE ALLOWED ON THE TRACK WITHOUT GOING THROUGH THE TECH LINE!

Worker Assignments: All attendees are expected to help make our event safe and fun. Everybody should be able to find their names associated with a work assignment on the attached schedule. Most will have a short stint working in Pit-out or Staging, some may be listed to work the morning tech line and others will be shown to be working in control. Please take the time to understand when and where you are expected to be. Please pay particular attention to the timing of Worker meetings also shown on the schedule. If you are listed to work the tech line please try to be at the track a little early. Details of the actual assignments will be discussed with you when you get to the track. If you do not see your name on the schedule please email me so I can make sure you get the full experience of a track event.

Breakfast & Lunch: Breakfast may be bought at several restaurants or take-outs in the village outside the track. At this stage I am unsure whether the cafeteria at the track will be open for lunch; do not assume it will be. If nothing else, bring plenty of liquids as discussed in the section “Prevent Heat Illness” found in the links above.

Caravan: There will be a caravan leaving on Sunday AM from the Hooksett, NH state liquor store. Contact Steve Ross at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it

Tires: Touchette Tire will once again provide full-service tire capabilities at our event. They are very supportive of our events and quite reasonably priced. More details can be found in the Event Information section.

Race Fuel: As far as I am aware there is no race fuel available locally. If you need it, you best organize it for yourself. (The local fuel station had made some suggestion last year that this year he would have race fuel. This does not appear to have happened.)

  • There is NO fuel available trackside.
  • The Petro Canada "Garage Matte" station in town can only sell pump gas -- the highest octane is 94.  This was confirmed on 5 July 2007.
  • The following is prior years' information: call them before making any plans.D&L Performance is the ONLY provider of race fuel in the local region.  They are located in the town of Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu which is 20 miles north of the US/Canadian border which puts them 1.5 - 2 hours southeast of LCMT.  They will deliver 54 gal. drums to the track providing they have orders totaling 5-6 drums.  The cost of VP 101 Unleaded Race Fuel is 569.95 CAD plus 79.51 tax = 649.46 CAD.  At today's exchange rate, this is $613.65 USD.  Based on past experience, one 54 gal. drum of race fuel is just about the right amount for one Porsche for the 3-day event including the Enduro.  You may end up with 5 gals leftover - so bring a jug.  If you need race fuel and do not want to take a chance bringing fuel with you over the border, then contact ASAP:
  • D & L Performance tel. 888-689-6821 Ask to speak with Pascal
Charity Events: As is rapidly becoming a tradition, NER will be raising money for Angel Flight at our events. Angel Flight NE provides free flights for medical care and compassion missions; check out one of their newsletter stories about NER & PCA. As the lunch periods are being utilized for additional hot track time, Touriing/Parade laps will not be available for guests but rides at speed with instructors may be scheduled. Details about these rides appear on our website under Charity Events at LCMT.  DON'T BE BASHFUL IN APPROACHING JOYCE - IT'S FOR A GOOD CAUSE.

So, study your materials, make sure your car is pre-teched, and I'll...

See you at the track,

Bruce Hauben

If you need anything else or have questions feel free to email Bruce or phone 978.952.8517 before 8PM (email is best after July 6 since I'll be on the road to Calabogie)
