What's the #1 most popular new year resolution? My guess would be "diet". (Although popular may be the wrong description.) Next is probably "exercise". I know they are always my top two. Not that I'm trying to lose weight, just be healthy. You know, watch the fat content, eat more fresh fruits and veggies. The beginning of a new year is a natural time to plan ahead, set goals, make changes for the better. So what if we weren't 100% successful at our resolutions for the past year. Renew them; try again. There's always hope that we will do better at them in the coming year. I think I make a little more progress on my top two resolutions every year. What's the alternative? Give up? Quit trying? That would be the same as giving up hope for life in general. Whatever your new year resolutions I wish you good luck with them. I've got to work on answering my email promptly. That resolution is left over from last year. I really failed at that one, as anyone who has emailed me thinking it was better than calling knows. I do check my phone messages everyday. My goal is to check my email at least every other day. I missed the Annual Dinner, but heard it was success. There are not as many opportunities to get out to play with friends in the off season, and I missed a good one. What caused us to miss the dinner, was a business trip for Mike to NACE (the National Autobody Congress and Exhibition). That convention usually takes place the same weekend as the Annual Dinner. Though the exhibition is interesting, I went for the location; which was Las Vegas this year. The great thing about Las Vegas is there's always something new to see. It seems like there's a new hotel with a new attraction every year. There's always a new show, bigger and better than the last production. So even if you don't gamble like me (I'm terrible at cards and the slot machines make me dizzy), it's still a fun destination. We checked out the newest attraction at the Stratosphere Hotel, a roller coaster that runs around the top of the building above the observation deck 104 stories high. There is also another ride up there too, called the Big Shot. The car you sit in drops straight down the needle on the top of the building, then it bounces back up and down a few times while slowing down! We went up after dark and saw all the lights on the strip. The view was great! Mike went to the exhibition both days. He was doing some serious shopping for his business. I went the first day, but the second day I went shopping with the girls at Caesar's Palace. If you're going to shop in Vegas this is the place to do it. The upscale mall is home to several very unique shops, and the very trendy designers' stores. There's even a Porsche Design store. The mall itself is worth a visit even if you don't care to shop. It’s got cafes and fountains and statues that perform. I especially like the fresco ceiling that looks like sky. Another reason to go to Las Vegas is the weather. Sunny and warm comes to mind right? They say it never rains in Vegas, but both times I've visited it's been unseasonably cool, cloudy most of the time and it's rained. That's strike two. Maybe next time I'll get some real desert weather. That would feel good right about now. Here's hoping the sun shines on us in Daytona next month.
