Back in June of 1994 I made the next step in Porsche ownership, I upgraded from a 1983 944 to a 1990 944 S2. I had owned the older car since November 1985 and put an additional 130,000 miles onto it’s already clocked 46,000. The S2 was a huge increase in technology from the almost a 924 1983 944. Now I was in search of a good mechanic.

While at a photo shoot in Needham, an assistant told me of a friend of his in Bridgewater that used to work at Clair and had started his own place about 10 years prior. I gave him a call and the rest is history. The owner Keith Porges has now been my friend for 12 years and was instrumental in getting me into performance driving and racing.

In the winter of 1998 I mentioned that I had joined the Porsche Club and wanted to get my car in shape for the track. Completely unexpected, Keith offered me a lift in his shop for the winter and the use of whatever tools I needed. He also gave me a key so that I could come in on the weekends and work.

In an effort to help out I would take mornings off from working at home and just go and clean the shop. I found that sweeping the shop was great therapy from the grinds of daily life. I often find peace in the most simple of jobs.
I eventually paid for 1/2 of a new lift at Keith’s shop in a continued effort to repay all that he has done.

Every winter and a couple times a year you will find me in his shop tweeking the race car, mounting and balancing new Hoosiers or helping to clean up and in a couple of weeks I will haul the race car down there to do the new secret improvement that only a couple people know about. Look out competition!

Keith is a great guy and has an equally cool wife Shannon. Shannon is a cancer survivor that has turned into a triathlete competing all over the United States. They just came back from Hawaii where she placed somewhere around 68th in her age group. That’s huge! Congratulation Shannon!

Keith is also a Porsche owner and has been a PCA member (on and off) for probably 10 years and an avid 928 owner. He at any time will own 1 to 3 928s. Shannon also likes them. So, after being a member for so long I finally got him to place an ad in the NOR’EASTER. Look else where in this issue for Keith’s Advance Imported ad.

Don’t expect a key to the shop (that’s my lift) but you can expect great service on your Porsche, Mercedes, BMW and more.
