NOR'EASTER Online -  May 12, 2003 Board Meeting
Northeast Region Logo
The meeting was held on May 12, 2003 at Cheung's Restaurant in Framingham. In attendance were Barbara Noonan, Dave and Susana Weber, Steve Ross, Bruce Corwin, Steve Boris, Bruce Hauben, Andrew Jenks and yours truly.

Andy presented the monthly treasurers report. There were some questions regarding invoices due and bills to be sent. The club is sending out significant monies for the upcoming event reservations particularly for the track days. Andy expressed concern that our current bank is charging unusually large transaction fees and further inquiry about the source of these charges and reasons for such fees will be explored immediately. The Clubs taxes are ready for filing and will go out in the next two days. Some discussion regarding the financial procedures for tech sessions ensued with clarification readily explained by Steve Ross. Further research on the "online" registration process has been steady and Andy states the Club is nearing a final decision for an acceptable system that will be very easy to use. Lastly, Andy is working hard to place an accurate value on the Clubs assets for the insurance companies and contact will be made with the masses for current valuations.

Bruce Hauben gave report on the recent Ramble to Vermont. The event was a great success with the exception of the rather dismal weather. Regardless, the Ramble went silky smooth with excellent food, fun and great camaraderie enjoyed by over 260 participants! Bruce states planning is already in full swing for the 2004 and 2005 events and there are multiple exciting locations in the wings including the Samoset Resort in Maine and Lake George N.Y. Great Job Bruce!!!!

The board entered into lengthy discussion regarding the current discounting and reimbursement policies of the Club. Many issues must be weighed in order to make fair and reasonable decisions before final policy can be made.

Steve Ross gave report on activities and one current dilemma would be the meltdown of our Bose PA system that is used at the Autocross series. The board approved funds for the purchase of a replacement unit. Steve reports that the attendance a tech session's has been unusually low and the board made multiple discussions on possible remedies for increasing interest. Planning for the fall tour, autocross school and tech sessions are going smoothly. The autocross series is ready to roll and the insurances, timing equipment and equipment is set for the season.

With just two days to go, Steve Boris reports that our first golf day is going to be well attended. All the final arrangements are being made and if the weather cooperates it is certain to be a great event. The July meeting will be another F1 Boston challenge and interest has been high. There are only 40 spots available and filling fast. Two person teams are all the rage and the competition will be fierce. The August meeting will feature a visit to AutoFanatics and planning is in the final stages. Autofanatics is planning demonstrations on many car related goodies including detailing products, die cast and model cars. Steve is making final arrangements for our fall concours at the Museum of Transportation and he is making an extra effort to be sure the photo contest is going to be a success with new and exciting categories for the entrants to compete for.

Dave reviewed the deadlines and requirements for the upcoming issues of the Nor’easter, with only mild lashing the Board was gracefully reminded that timeliness is close to godliness at least in Dave's eyes.

The meeting adjourned not so promptly at 9:04. The next meeting will be held the week of June 8th at the home of Steve Berry.
