The meeting was held on October 14, 2003 at the home of Andy Jenks. In attendance were board members Bruce Corwin Barbara Noonan, Dave Adams, Steve Ross Andy Jenks, Steve Berry and guests Bruce Hauben, Arnie Zahn, Margo Zann and yours truly. The meeting began at 7:45 with Bruce Hauben giving report of the 2004 and 2005 Ramble plans. For the most part Bruce has spent significant time researching good locations that can accommodate the size of our events. He has found a significant number of resorts that have already been booked out till 2005! For 2004 at least, the Ramble will be held at the Samoset Resort in Maine. To date, the plans are all set including the "lunch stop". For 2005, Bruce is looking at many locations but has narrowed the search to a few locations including the Ostaga Resort located in Cooperstown N.Y. the home of the Baseball Hall of Fame! Other sites include Lake George N.Y. Steve Ross reports that the fall tour this past Sunday was well attended even in the rain. Over 40 cars attended the event that featured exceptional road choices and a great route. Hats off to Kim Saal and his helpers for an exceptional job done. The autocross series is going strong and the last date for this weekend will conclude the series for the year. Of course, those die-hards will be off to N.Y. for the Zone One event. Arnie the Track Chair and Margo gave report on the 2003 Drivers Ed events. Margo presented the financial picture for this years events which looked quite good considering the national slowing of attendance related to the struggling economy and the increasing number of available ways to obtain track time that draw from our numbers. Overall, the financial picture looks very good and the Z's feel confident that the picture may look prettier as final monies and deposits for the last event are still to be deposited. Arnie is looking ahead to 2004 and planning for a great season. Everything from the initial Ground School to the various track venues will be evaluated to make next season even better. As of now, the Track Committee is tossing the different options around and trying to decide how many events would be feasible for the 2004 season and what tracks are most favored. Go to the web site and email the Track Chair your preferences, likes, dislikes and ideas. Steve Boris presented the details of the upcoming monthly meetings. The October meeting at Mikes Autobody is all set. The next biggie will be the November event at the Museum of Science for the Porsche Top Speed viewing at the renowned Omni Theater. The registrations for the annual dinner in December are now trickling in, this event is always a sell out, act fast. For 2004, the planning is going strong and already great sites are being secured for early in the year. As always, keep your eyes open for announcements that are posted in the Nor’Easter and on our website. Andy submitted the monthly treasurers report. Income remains strong as monies from the activities is still rolling in through the busy fall months. As always the numbers are in excellent order and the report was unanimously accepted as submitted. Andy also reports that we are closing near to launching our new on-line registration process. He promises that although a little late to the dance, our process will be extremely user friendly and secure. Steve Berry provided the membership report for the past month. The membership numbers remain strong and to this date, we have actually had an increase of 50 more new members as compared to this time last year. The membership stands at 1474 strong. Very good membership numbers in our struggling economy. Dave distributed the requirements for the upcoming issues of the Nor’Easter. Of particular note, the annual officers elections are closing in fast along with the annual newsletter re-subscription notices. Steve Berry will bear the burden for much of these tasks. Members are encouraged to vote and subscribe in a timely fashion. The Board had initial discussions about the membership awards that will be presented at our annual membership dinner in December. The board will now be seeking out last year’s recipients to reclaim the trophies for engraving and cleaning prior to their award. The next meeting will be held on November at the home of Steve Boris. The meeting adjourned not so promptly at 9:44PM. |
