Porsche Club of America
The Northeast Region

By Ron Mann for Michelle Wang, Secretary
NOR'EASTER Online -  December 13, 2005 Board Meeting
Northeast Region Logo

And so you and I come to the end of the road.  I hope I’ve amused and even informed you on occasion.  I’m not the only one at journey’s end.  Karen, Susana and Rick are also moving on, although in their case it appears to better things or at least things not involving having to deal with 495 at rush hour. So I thought once, just once in my two year tenure, I should lay out the facts of the meeting plain and simple for you.
And then I came to my senses. So as this is my final report, I thought I’d give a final exam. Yes, I’ve given an exam before but that was a midterm. This is the final.
Attendees: Dave Weber, Susana Weber, Karen Adams, Winfield Perry, Steve Boris, Steve Ross, Andy Jenks, Robert Cohen, Ron Mann.

The combined power output rating of those attending is:
A) Greater than the kW rating of a 1970 914-1.7
B) Less than the ft-lbs of torque required to break free  really rusty wheel nut
C) E=mc2 and therefore the most mass officially amassed in the past two years
D) Excessive, due to the sumptuous amount of drinking and eating at the annual dinner which has yet to be worked off even after all that dancing

The old board said hello to the new board.  The new board said goodbye to the old board.

The new board consists of:
A) Robert Conrad, Robert Jones, Robert Johnson and Robert Blake
B) Walter Winchell,  Walter Cronkite, Walter Matthau and Walter Rohrl
C) Reese Witherspoon, Della Reese,  James Reese Europe and Reese’s Pieces
D) Who the f### cares?

The total number of votes cast in this year’s election was:
A) 2
B) 6,967
C) A prime number
D) No one knows for sure as Steve Ross is still getting votes in and he’s not even on the election committee

The member meetings for the next three months are all laid out.  Paul Russell on 1/14, the Ground School in February and a really cool March meeting at the Larz Anderson Auto Museum on the making of an upcoming film about the Lauren collection to be aired on PBS in April.

Upon realizing that he wasn’t about to be consumed, chewed up and spit out by the Porsche Club machinery, the expression on the face of the incoming VP of Administration Win Perry was one of:
A) 8^)
B) Stone, white marble to be precise
C) Not to be seen, he was hiding somewhere
D) Regaining a bit of color.  The smelling salts were beginning to kick in

Karen in her usual efficient style presented the treasurer’s report, including the year end numbers.  Those present approved.

The report was approved as:
A) We’re under 3.5 billion in debt
B) We only owe the IRS $0.06 in back taxes for the year 1959
C) The 3.5 Billion is the simple interest on the IRS debt
D)  Bob suggested we hired Roni Deutch and we figure will be out of the whole mess for a little as $25.

Given the fiscal health of our chapter, the board has begun the process of hiring some web site designers to revamp our now aging internet persona. Given the heaps of technology that have come and gone since porschenet.com first crackled to life over the internet airwaves, we expect to have all the modern amenities including 8 bit gray scale graphics, pop up spam as well as download speeds of up to 1200 baud. And if we can scrape together a little extra bandwidth, I’m hoping for a complete collection of anime for on demand download.

The new website will be called:
A) Andy’sExcellentAdventure.com
B) LordOfTheDings.com
C) Gurgle.com
D) The greatest achievement in the history of all mankind

With all business concluded, the board adjourned.  The time of meeting’s end was:
A) At the stoke of midnight
B) At the first rising of the sun
C) As a result of  Steve Boris falling asleep
D) 9:01 as it always is when the meeting adjourns at 8:57.

Now that you’ve completed the final, I’d simply like to thank you all for not running me out of town over the past two years for crimes against the nation.  It has been my great pleasure to serve you all in what little capacity I might. More than that it has been highly rewarding to have had the opportunity to witness, understand and learn how clubs of our ilk manage to exist, let alone thrive. I’m quite proud to have hopefully entertained you somewhat along the way.  To the outgoing board members, all I can say is, as a PCA member, thank you so much for the wonderful work you’ve done! For my part, I look forward to taking over for Rick and I hope that I’ll be able to live up to the standards we’ve all come to expect.  It is a high hurdle, but I’ll do my best to drive around it! Next meeting is at the Webers on Sunday January 15th. Take it away Michelle!  Peace.
