NOR'EASTER Online -  March 9, 2006 Board Meeting
Northeast Region Logo

The March Board meeting was held at Robert and Karen Cohen’s home on Thursday March 9. In attendance were Steve Ross, Steve Boris, Bob Cohen, Ron Mann, Dave Weber, Michelle Wang, Karen Cohen and Susana Weber. Absent were Win Perry and Andy Jenks. The meeting was called to order at 8:05 pm.

Ron began with an update on activities. The Coffee Run is all set for Sunday April 2.  All necessary paperwork is in hand. The Ramble is ready to go. In regards to Autocross, sponsorship has been secured for the entire series. Technical issues are being worked out with the display and planned to be repaired by the time of the first Autocross event. Replacement cones are on order. The trailer has been cleaned out and reorganized and the generator has been serviced. The autocross ground school is planned for the 16th of April, there seems to be good advance press and it is anticipated to be a well-attended event.

The Track Committee’s ground school was well attended by novice folks looking for information on the DE experience. It is hoped that those attendees will register for the Novice Day at NHIS. There is a potential tire sponsorship available to the Club. More information will be gathered prior to making any decisions. An Advanced Safety Seminar has been suggested and may be conducted by club supporter Joe Marko. This will be investigated as a potential meeting subject for the late summer/early fall.

Michelle Wang (for Win Perry) updated the Board on upcoming meetings. The March 18th meeting is Chris Szwedo at the MOT. All arrangements have been made and we look forward to the evening. April is the annual Newcomer’s meeting at Ira. It is hoped that the Goodie Store will be in attendance. May’s meeting will be held at Focus Fitness (see promo in this issue). The Collings Foundation tour is planned for June. Planning is underway for the August Essex River trip. September is reserved for PorscheFest, and the Great Garage Company visit is being arranged for the fall.

Bob Cohen distributed the Treasurer’s Report.  The Report was accepted as submitted.

On Membership matters, Steve Ross is gathering information on the possibility of educating the communities we live in about responsible driving, et cetera. More details will be forthcoming as this develops. Steve also shared his notes from the President’s meeting at Zone 1. PCA National has changed addresses. The PCA website is updated with this new information, as will Panorama. National is moving towards the new safety regulations as has been already adopted by the NER DE Committee. The PCA Escape will be run by Zone 1 in the Watkins Glen area September 7-10, 2006. The 2008 Parade will be held in Charlotte NC.

“Observer Reporters” are sought for autocross and driver education events. A form needs to be filled out by a participant that is not part of the event organizing committee. This will most likely be assigned at time of registration for the event. There was additional discussion amongst the Board pertaining to administrative matters and distribution of documents prior to the meeting for review and discussion at the meeting.  It was agreed that the Treasurer’s report and Nor’Easter deadlines would be emailed in advance of the meeting, along with the meeting agenda.

Dave Weber distributed deadlines and reminded the Board of content assignments for upcoming issues of the Nor’Easter. The next meeting is scheduled for April 5 at 6:30 pm, hosted by Steve Ross at Joe’s American at Shoppers World in Framingham. With that, this meeting was adjourned at 9:16pm.

Respectfully Submitted,
Michelle Wang
