Present for the January Board Meeting at the Weber’s were: Steve Ross,
Karen Adams, Bill Brinkman, Dave Weber, Bruce Corwin, Paul Dudley, Barbara
Collazzo-Noonan, Michelle Wang, Eric Kessel, Drew Ley, Doug Adams, Susana
Weber, plus invited guests Christine Hesshaus, Toby Brinkman, Mike Noonan,
and Tamara Cheek. Kim Saal was unable to attend.
The meeting was called to order at 11am. First on the agenda was the
Treasurer’s report, given by Karen Adams. This being her last report for
1998, the Board wished to extend its thanks to Karen for a job well done.
We look forward to Bill’s financial leadership. Karen will continue to
serve as Advertising Manager for the Nor’easter. The financial report for
1998 showed the NER with a healthy balance in the bank. Karen suggested
that the board continue to exercise fiscal responsibility when evaluating
purchases and expenditures. The report was accepted as submitted.
Paul Dudley reported on membership. We are currently running 4th or
5th in the Membership Contest. Time to start recruiting again!
Bruce highlighted upcoming monthly meetings. Read all about the January
meeting at Bosco’s in this issue. February brings us to the Annual Auction
at PapaRazzi. March is the Newcomer’s Meeting at Ira Porsche in Danvers.
In April, Bruce will try to line up a few “tire guys” to participate in
a panel discussion on the topic “what’s new with rubber”. The rest of the
year is shaping up to be a lot of fun – many ideas were discussed, including
a cruise night, a day at the oval track, and indoor cart racing. We also
have to plan the 40th anniversary celebration this fall and the Annual
Dinner in December.
Drew reported on the Annual Dinner. As most of us already know, the
Dinner was well attended (many were unable to attend, as the event was
oversubscribed and we were limited to 125 diners. The Board also extends
its appreciation and thanks to Drew and Carol for their efforts in planning
the Dinner. In order to be able to accommodate everyone that wants to come
in 1999, Drew will continue to scout out appropriate sites for the Board
to evaluate.
Dave Weber distributed Nor’easter deadlines and content for the next
two issues.
Barbara reviewed this year’s activities and planning calendar. Most
all track and autocross dates are set, of special note are the Driver’s
Ed event at Mt. Tremblant, and we are hosting the Zone 1 Autocross this
year, plus the 40th anniversary activities, and the spring Ramble. A Concours
will be held at the Museum of Transportation on June 27th this year. The
Board is still seeking autocross and concours chairs. Interested members
should contact Barbara or any member of the Board.
Under new business, Steve Ross relayed to the Board that Bob Cohen
of Sudbury has volunteered to become the new Historian. Tamara Cheek and
Toby Brinkman have volunteered to coordinate our sponsor activity. They
will offload some of the committee chairs’ efforts in this area and serve
as central contacts.
The meeting was adjourned at 12:25. Next meeting will be held February
14th and hosted by Michelle Wang and Matthew Wallis.
Secretary’s Correction to December Meeting Minutes: the 1999 Tech Session
plans were incorrectly reported. It should state:
The tech session at European Performance Engineering will be an advanced
tech dealing with engine and
transmission inner workings and race/track preparations, while the
one at Autobahn will be basic, dealing with basic maintenance up to and
including tune-ups, oil changes, brakes etcetera. Both sessions will be
open to all model Porsches.
Respectfully submitted by
Michelle M. Wang, Secretary
