The
meeting began at 7:55 at the home of Andy Jenks. Board members present
included Steve Boris, Bruce Hauben, Andy Jenks, Barbara Noonan, Dave Weber,
Greg Hill, Joyce Brinton, Bruce Corwin, Steve Ross and your skilled scribe.
Susana Weber and Murray Mathews were guests.
Bruce Hauben gave a recap of the Mosport DE. The event was a great success with all the last minute attendees. The annual Concours event is shaping up nicely and the site and logistics are all in order. Many board members state that the Museum of Transportation has done quite a few upgrades so the facility is very impressive. Steve Ross states the autocross series continues to be well attended and although there is a small decrease in overall attendance, the drivers are enjoying 7-8 runs per event. Steve Boris reports that the Collings Foundation meeting is all set and lots of people have expressed interest in the event. The Denise McCluggage and Vic Elford meetings are also on track for a great success. The final travel and hotel accommodations are being made for our speakers. The Boston Copley Marriott will be the site for Mr. Elford and a very nice menu is planned. Steve is also making arrangements for the November 8th meeting that will feature a very special wine tasting, look for promotions for the event in the Nor’Easter. December of course is the Annual Dinner to be held at the International Country Club. Along the golfing lines, Steve suggested that we seriously consider hosting a golf tournament during 2003 for a charity. Just to gauge interest, if you might be interested in attending such an event, contact Steve. Steve also states that he has been doing significant research on new meeting sites for the 2003 season. Our guest Murray Mathews presented the proposed 2003 Ramble sites. Murray presented a very well configured comparison of the potential locations. As of now, the Woodstock Inn located in Vermont is the leading candidate as the financial projection and previous attendance present a successful combination. Mark your calendar for April 27th 2003, the primary target date. The board agreed with Murray’s suggestion and will move forward in the coming weeks. Greg Hill presented the monthly Treasurers Report. The club continues to show good financials for the year and the projection for the remainder of the year looks great. Greg is all up to date with deposits and payables. Greg is cruising for the rest of his term! The board accepted the report as presented following some minor Q and A. Dave presented the requirements for the upcoming issues of the Nor’Easter. Your scribe here was reprimanded for failure to meet deadlines as assigned. A pity on my mental state of consciousness as I am the only one who is actually done at the conclusion of the board meeting with all the information already typed and ready to send to Dave. Joyce and her assistant Bruce presented the monthly membership report. The numbers appear to be increasing once again, a pleasant situation in such a dismal economy. Steve Ross reviewed the upcoming Tech Sessions. There is a great number planned and the topics are quite interesting. In the future, the tech session costs will increase to $10 per event. Information about future events can be found throughout the Nor’Easter and on our web site. President Barbara presented the results of the “PA” system inquiries. There were three options presented which included good documentation and costs associated with each. The board agreed that the system should be powerful while maintaining good portability and ease of use. Ultimately the board chose option number “ zero” which means more research is needed. Bruce Corwin presented the updated list of potential candidates for nomination onto the Board of Directors. The list is still under review and once again interested candidates should contact Bruce Corwin at their earliest convenience. The proposed slate of candidates will be published in the next issue. The meeting adjourned not so promptly at 9:44, the next meeting will be held on September 17th at the home of Steve Boris. Anyone know a type of food that makes people want to go home and sleep? |
