NOR'EASTER Online -  November 13, 2002 Board Meeting
Northeast Region Logo
The November board meeting began at 8:04 pm on the 13th of the month. Attending the meeting were Steve Ross, Greg Hill, Susana and David Weber, Steve Boris, Bruce Hauben, Andy Jenks and Barbara Collazzo-Noonan. Dennis Cataldo was not feeling well, and Bruce Corwin was tied up on work matters. Greg hosted the meeting at the Chang An Chinese Restaurant in Concord – a very popular meeting destination as viewed by most of the board members in attendance.

Greg Hill began the Treasurer’s Report with a review of this year’s tax filing status. Greg has converted the region’s bookkeeping to Quick Books software – facilitating transfer of the Treasurer responsibilities to the incoming Treasurer. Financial results for various region activities were reviewed. Greg’s report was approved as presented.

Bruce Hauben presented Joyce Brinton’s membership report. Region membership stands at 1510. Thirty-one new members were added to the region the past month. Bruce recommended that NOR’EASTER renewal information be added to the region’s web site.

Steve Boris reviewed meeting planning for early 2003. Steve’s already trying to work around date conflicts. In January we’ll be visiting HMS in Peabody, MA to learn about track gear and maybe buy a helmet or a pair of driving shoes. In February we’ll visit Exoticar in Avon, MA, to view their model car offerings – and maybe buy a model or two. In March we’ll hold our annual Newcomer’s meeting at Ira Porsche, and who knows maybe we’ll all want to buy something there!

Andy Jenks reviewed Activities, beginning with a discussion of DE matters. Our 2003 Watkins Glen event will once again be held in late July. Two dates are being considered for a return to Mont Tremblant, in mid-May or early July. Mosport is locked in for the first weekend in October. NHIS dates are not yet available. Other DE discussion items included instructor participation, event pricing, and pro driver participation. Andy also reviewed the new autocross layout options for Fort Devens. The State Police are usurping (and fencing in) about a third of the property.

Dave Weber reviewed NOR’EASTER content requirements for the December and January issues – the worst months for newsletter content every year – help!

Barbara led a discussion of the Annual Awards. Nominees for the various awards were determined. Plans for the Annual Dinner were also discussed.

The meeting was adjourned at 9:45 pm. The next meeting will be at the Noonan’s on the 10th of December.
