NOR'EASTER Online -  January 12, 2003 Board Meeting
Northeast Region Logo
The meeting was held on January 12, 2003 at the home of Dave and Susana Weber. The meeting began at 11:17 AM; in attendance were Steve Ross, Greg Hill, Arnie Zann, Margo Zahn, Dave Weber, Bruce Hauben, Barbara Noonan, Steve Ross, Steve Berry, Andy Jenks, Rich Towle and your faithful scribe.

Arnie reported on the upcoming Drivers Ed season. The schedule has gone through many twists and turns and it appears as though we hit the jackpot as we have secured some very prime tracks dates. Margo reviewed the proposed advertising, instructor and driver fees for 2003. The proposed new rate structure was based on a comprehensive comparison of "like" club pricing. With the new rates in place, the projected budget portrays a positive outcome for the Northeast Region. A motion was made and accepted to approve the new rate structure along with the proposed budget. Lastly, discussion ensued regarding the registration process. This year drivers will be able to register for events without the "opening date" constraints therefore; on March 1st members may register for all DE events. The board agreed to let this coming year be a trial for the new process. Combined with online registration and payment, the process should be a whole lot easier in the future. Plans for the proposed changes will be finalized in the future following further research. Rich Towle, volunteered to help coordinate inquiry with our club bank for automation of this process.

Steve Ross reviewed the activities for 2003. The autocross series is set and the dates have been finalized. The new autocross chairperson, Rich Towle is set for his new position and has already done some footwork in readying the trailer. There are only limited details to be addressed before the start of the season. The club will be researching the current stock of two-way radio's and batteries. The possibility exists that new radios for the DE events may need to be purchased as a result of the scheduling conflicts that exist between autocross and track events; both require the availability of radios. Steve reports that there are still three volunteers willing to coordinate rally events. There are proposed dates that work for the schedule so it appears that rallying will be back on our schedule for the first time in quite a few years. The spring ramble is set and details are already published in the Nor'easter. There are multiple people willing to run additional ramble or tour events. Steve will try and coordinate the available dates with those people. Bruce Hauben added that research is already underway for the 2004 spring ramble. The annual Concours at the Museum of Transportation is set and finalization for the guest speaker and day's agenda is being done. Discussion ensued about the availability and coordination of the event sponsorship; Steve will coordinate the clubs efforts in managing this valuable resource.

Steve Boris provided details on the future meetings. The 2003 schedule is very complete with a long list of great events on the agenda. Members are encouraged to visit the NER website and look throughout the Nor'easter for details on the monthly meetings.

Greg Hill gave the year-end treasury report. Greg reviewed the reporting and filing process with the board; Andy Jenks will be the new Treasurer and has been give the details. The synopsis of the year shows a strong financial picture with some monies yet to be collected from late season events, the position of the club remains profitable. Greg took a few minutes to detail some of his financial findings and provided guidance on "things" that could be done throughout the year to make the financial position of the club more uniform throughout the year. Greg has also made the necessary changes with the banks for Andy to have necessary access to funds. The report was accepted as presented.

Steve Berry reported that there was no significant news to report regarding the membership statistics.

Dave Weber distributed the Nor'easter requirements.

New Business: The club is in need of a safety chairman, a person that would be active in many activities and could be responsible for the coordination of information. As of now, Dave Weber will retain the responsibility.

The meeting adjourned at 2:00PM. The next meeting will be held on February 9, 2003 at the home of the Steve Berry.
