[Steve himself....] Well how can we possibly top this year, here I am writing this column the day after our most successful annual dinner which capped an incredible year for Northeast Region PCA.  Over 120 members and guests/spouses gathered at another new venure, the Dedham Polo and Tennis club for great fun, comradery, door prizes and music, special thanks go out to Drew Ley and Carol Searle for the tremendous effort put forth in planning and pulling off this great event.

Our special guest this year was outgoing National President and good friend of our regions' Judy Boles and her husband John, now newly relocated back in New England. She presented us with a beautiful trophy for our winning the 1997-98 Membership contest. We in kind gave her one of Susana's  pieces of artwork in appreciation.  An untypically large number of new and first time members attended the dinner, hopefully a portent of more attendance at all our '99 events. Speaking of which, your input as to what type of events, meeting topics you want to see is very helpful to the board. We will be drawing up a tentative calendar on January 10th, so let us know by then if possible.

Our November meeting was also a record turnout. Prescott Kelly, National  Public Relations chairman, and Mr. Know it all when it comes to historic cars and memoribilia, spoke on the history of the late Professor Porsche at the Museum of Transportation. We also had the opportunity to view a number of historically significant Porsches on loan to the museum for the winter. NER members own a number of those cars on display.

As I have said the last few months, hopefully you will have all received your coupons by the time you read this column. Unfortunately Judy's word to us at the dinner was that Porsche still has not got the time to create the necessary documents, so wait we must. Maybe this will be the last month I have to say this.

Joining us this year is Bill Brinkman, a relatively new member who along with wife Toby are active autocrossers, tourers , rallyists and now our new treasurer, replacing Karen Adams, who did an outstanding job as 2 term treasurer and secretary, I'm sure we will see more of her in the future.

We are still in need of an autocross chairperson (or co-chairperson) if interested please call e-mail or see Barbara Noonan. In addition we are planning a 40th anniversary party in September and need volunteers who would like to assist in the planning and execution of this event, please contact any board member if interested in helping.

As mentioned in last month's column concerning the 48 hours of the Glen and a possible date change, cancel that thought, the usual 4th of July weekend has been kept so plan to attend this great social and driving weekend if you can.  Speaking of track events, please feel free to send comments and suggestions on track related matters to the track committee chairman, Doug Adams, or any board member, we are constantly trying to improve the program and your input is a crucial component.

Although this is usually the slow season for driving events (since many folks store their Porsches away for the winter), we still have monthly meetings. In January we will return to Boscos, for more food and movies at the uniquely styled theater, which has tables shaped like cars. Check this month's Nor'easter for the important details of time and place.

Remember the deadline for this year's Parade in Mt. Tremblant Canada is quickly approaching and first day entry will be necessary to guarantee a spot.
