Well they finally arrived, the long awaited coupons have finally arrived,
and should be mailed an in your hands by the end of February. There are
2 caveats with the coupons. The first is that they have an expiration date
of April 30th (surely based on a more timely shipping to us which did not
occur). And secondly the coupon is for $100 off a minimum $200 purchase.
Apparently that has been the standard deal the last few years, but not
indicated to us in any previous communication. Finally remember you had
to have been a member in good standing on May 31, 1998 to receive one,
please let me know if you do not get one, also make sure if your address
has changed since that date that we have the new one.
Next in the activities area, we have found a pair of co-chairs for
the autocross series. Eric Kessel who so graciously came to our rescue
as concours chair will be teamed with Bill Seymour, who many of you have
seen autocross his neat little Caterham (Lotus 7) over the last few years.
He swears he owns a 356 and it did show up at cruise night last year.
We have also found a chairman for the 40th anniversary to be held in
late September. Charley Dow, who has been a member almost those full 40
years, has also offered his time to help with the weekend. We plan
to hold a Saturday rally, Sunday concours (north shore area at this time)
and a Saturday night dinner and maybe raffle with as many of the old officers
as we can locate. Should any of you wish to help in this undertaking
please contact a current board members or me.
Hope all of you who planned to go to this years parade in Canada got
your application in on opening day, word is the event will be a sellout
almost immediately, with 1/3 of the club population in the northeast section
of the country (US) not a surprise. Speaking of sellouts, Russ Merriam,
our illustrious Ramble maker, informs us that this year’s Ramble is sold
out 2 months before the event, another record turnout.
It's really gratifying to see so many new writers in the Nor’easter,
not only does it lighten Dave's load, it allows local people to get their
thoughts published in what has to be the best newsletter around. (Come
to think of it, the national newsletter committee has thought that is true
for the last 3 years)
Remember that our first track and autocross dates are not far away,
April, so get that Porsche out of storage and ready for the fun season.
